How We Review Tools

ToolInsightPro publishes reviews of software and AI tools. This page explains exactly how those reviews are produced, what we check, and — just as importantly — what we do not do. If you are deciding whether to trust a verdict on this site, this page is the honest answer.

The short version

Most reviews on this site are desk research, not hands-on testing. We read the official documentation, pricing pages, terms of use and refund policies, we watch the vendor demos, and we cross-check vendor claims against independent sources. Where we have used a tool ourselves, the article says so explicitly. Where we have not, the article does not pretend otherwise.

We think that is a reasonable basis for helping you compare options before you spend money. We also think you deserve to know it, which is why this page exists.

What we check on every tool

  • Features — what the tool actually does, separated from marketing language
  • Pricing — every tier, what changes between tiers, and the real cost per unit of output where that can be calculated
  • Free plan or trial — whether one exists, and what it excludes
  • Usage limits and credits — how quotas work, whether unused credits roll over, and what happens when you run out
  • Commercial use rights — read from the actual terms of use, never assumed
  • Refund policy — the stated policy, with its conditions
  • Integrations — what it connects to
  • Ease of use — based on the interface shown in official demos and documentation
  • Who it suits and who it does not
  • Alternatives — including tools we do not earn anything from

Where our information comes from

In order of priority:

  • The vendor’s official website, pricing page, documentation, terms of use and help centre
  • Official product demos and recorded walkthroughs
  • Independent third-party sources, used for context and to check vendor claims
  • Our own use of the tool, where that applies — and clearly labelled when it does

When a vendor blocks automated access to its own pricing page, or when a figure cannot be confirmed from a primary source, we say so in the article rather than filling the gap with a guess.

Researched facts vs editorial observations

We separate two different things, and you should read them differently.

Researched facts are verifiable: a price, a credit limit, a refund window, a clause in the terms. If we state one, it came from a source we checked, and pricing-sensitive articles carry the date it was checked.

Editorial observations are our judgement: whether a price looks reasonable for what you get, who a tool suits, what we think its weakest point is. These are opinions. They are argued in the article, not asserted, so you can disagree with the reasoning rather than just the conclusion.

What we never do

  • We never invent features, prices, limits, refund terms or commercial-use rights
  • We never claim hands-on testing that did not happen
  • We never publish fake screenshots or AI-generated images of software interfaces
  • We never publish invented user testimonials, review counts or star ratings
  • We never use review or aggregate-rating schema markup, because this site does not run a rating system
  • We never change a verdict because of an affiliate relationship

Scoring

We do not give numeric scores or star ratings. A single number hides more than it reveals, and a 8.4/10 invites you to skip the part of the article that actually matters. Instead every review ends with a plain statement of who the tool is for and who should avoid it.

Pricing changes

AI software pricing changes frequently, and model availability changes even faster. Every pricing figure on this site carries the month it was checked. If you are reading an article months after that date, treat the pricing as a starting point and confirm the current figure on the vendor’s own page before you buy.

Corrections

If something on this site is wrong, we want to fix it. Email ToolInsightTeam@gmail.com with the page and the correction. Factual errors are corrected, and material corrections are noted on the page.

Affiliate relationships

Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them at no extra cost to you. This never changes a verdict, and it never decides which tools we cover. Full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure and our Editorial Policy.
